The Elite Laser Vein Center is directed by Michael F. Richman, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.C.C.P. Dr. Richman is a diplomate in the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and a fellow in the American College of Chest Physicians. In 2002-2003, he was listed by the Consumers' Research Council of America in the "Guide to America's Top Surgeons."
After completing his undergraduate and medical degrees at Georgetown University in Washington D.C., Dr. Richman moved to his native home of Los Angeles to complete his General surgery residency at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine. As Chief Resident, he was given "The Excellence in Teaching Award". He remained on the faculty at USC as a Clinical Instructor of Surgery for one year before completing a fellowship in Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami.
Having performed nearly one thousand cardiac bypass procedures throughout his career, Dr. Richman has always maintained a strong interest in the preventative aspect of cardiac care, namely cholesterol (lipid) management. The Center for Cholesterol Management was opened in August 2005 in order to focus exclusively on preventative care and management for those who may be at risk for heart disease. Dr. Richman is a noted authority on lipid disorders and is currently the "Cholesterol Expert" on WebMD and a member of editorial board the Clinical Journal of Lipidology. As a Cardiothoracic/Vascular surgeon, he has treated numerous patients with Venous Disease throughout his career. In late 2006, he opened the Elite Laser Vein Center in order to treat and provide up to date and the newest cutting edge procedures to tackle this often misunderstood problem. He is one of the few surgeons in the Los Angeles area that performs Endovenous Laser Ablation for lower extremity venous problems. Recently, he opened the second location of The Elite Laser Vein Center in Beverly Hills.
